The first example is a USA wide two way radio monitoring website. It allows people to listen to a wide range of commercial, law enforcement, railroad, and industrial radio channels. To use it, you enter in the location that you want to listen to (For example Chicago ) on the map, select what type of service you want to hear ( airport, state Police , Fire department, or city works vehicles.)

The second example is a similar "listening website " that covers all 50 US States. Select the state then the area, then the service type , that you are interested in receiving on your home computer or I Phone.

The third website is an international world wide computer website that allows people to tune into amateur radio broadcasts in over 170 foreign countries, 24/7.

Here in Canada it is illegal to listen to Police, Fire, or Paramedic radio broadcasts, for the purpose of making money from the information derived from listening in. Most of those types of frequencies in Canada are now encrypted so that private individuals cannot hear them. Authorized media outlets, like radio and TV news have to apply to the Federal Government to get a permit to listen. Private companies, like industrial plants, taxi services, courier services and the like, can be heard if you buy a channel index book, sold at radio stores that lists frequencies by geographical locations.
