I like em!
Grew up calling them porpoises, that was the common term in Florida at the time. In 1975 the legislature designated the "porpoise, also commonly known as the dolphin," as the official saltwater mammal. Back then a dolphin was a fish, commonly called mahi-mahi in the Pacific.
Actually the Florida marine mammal is a dolphin, a bottlenose dolphin, and not a porpoise. Porpoises are also marine mammals, but not found in Florida. Today a lot of people in Florida call the dolphin fish a mahi-mahi. Not me, to me Flipper is still a porpoise and I occasionally fish for dolphin.
