National Escargot Day - May 24th

I will always remember Steve Martin in the movie The Jerk summoning the waiter over in a fancy restaurant and telling him in hushed tones, “There are SNAILS on her plate!,” expecting the problem to be taken to the attention of the kitchen and corrected… 😸

Only once, at a private gambling club in London. I couldn't believe how delicious they were! Can't believe I actually ate them! It must have been the ultra fancy atmosphere that got to me. This was an exclusive joint and I only got in because a millionaire's son invited me.
 
The one and only time I had L'escargot was in an overpriced Chinese restaurant in Paris .. it arrived in a slimy garlic sauce.. and it was so revolting, I've never had it since
 
I will eat it, but it’s not a preference. Too often, the chef uses too much garlic, even though I request easy on the garlic and spices. I prefer Scallops without seasoning and the same for Calamari.
