National Fried Clam Day - July 3rd

Yep, we had clams last evening for dinner. Not because of their day, but we went to a local seafood restaurant and I ordered the combination plate with a small order of clams as a starter. I like to take them and dip them in Ranch dressing. They go very well with my cocktail. BTW, I also had as my entree the combo skewer. They take pieces of very tender beef, scallops and shrimp on a skewer and serve it over a bed of rice. There were a few vegetables, but I slid those off and let them on my plate.

The fried clams in Georgia looked liked what they call clam strips now. I always figured they were the foot of the clam. Imagine my surprise when I moved up north. We were at a harborside restaurant in Salem, Mass, and I ordered clams. They had a ball-shaped part attached to them! Not what I was expecting, and my husband had to eat them. Now I wonder if clam strips are just cut up ball-shaped clams.
