You know...after years of writing letters and not getting any correspondence back I've given up on that stuff. I email a little but that's it.

I don't write letters anymore, just scrawl notes in cards that are themselves rarely sent. I can remember, however, how glorious it was to go to one's mailbox while in college, and get an eagerly anticipated paper letter from home or acquaintances that you could retain, and thoughtfully respond to in kind. We've gained immediacy but lost something in the instantaneous communications of today...
