Mutt and Jeff: The Original Animated Odd Couple

I have always been a mutt girl. I have always got my dogs from the dog pound (jail). I may not know their history but for many it was not their fault they wound up there. The problem was the human kind, not the dog.

For the first time in my life I have a pure blood dog. He was owned by our best family friend who passed from a sudden heart attack. He is a wonderful boy but he weighs 90#lbs, has a ton of hair (chow) so a lot of work.

I feel bad for him sometimes, I don't have the energy to run and play with him. I can't walk him, he has pulled me to the ground too many times. For the first time I am out of my comfort zone trying to be a good pet parent.

All my dogs were Mutts, except the last two (border collies). Most of my dogs are from the dog pound or shelter except Flash. Stepson rescued him from a bad situation.

My sister, a dog lover, always thought she had to have pure bred dog. Spent thousand's of dollars for these puppies. Only to find they had health problems, so a few more thousand. So many of them passed way to young.

She asked what I did to have happy, healthy dogs. I said adopt a mutt from a rescue. She finally got it, she has two, one found on the street, not collared or chipped. She searched for the owner to no avail. Second, came from the pound, Good Lord he is a funny boy, I call him Sir barksalot. He is healthy, happy good boy. The sister also has chickens, she can let them out of their coop and the dogs never bother them. I wish I could get mine to not chase the squirrels, the chickens they would see as a buffet. LOL
