It amazes me how some little traditions get passed along from generation to generation while other, IMO more important, values and lessons get lost and eventually fade away.
When my kids were little, I'd put $1 in an envelope with a little hand-drawing of aon it (under their pillow, while they we're sleeping)..
Next day,
my daughter, about age 6-7 or 8, would say. "Mom, we know it's you,
we know your handwriting".
