The Strong Museum of Play, here in Rochester, NY is home to the National Toy Hall of Fame. Every year there are nominees for that years induction, and people get to vote. Here is an article about the 2017 nominees. I am including the link as there is a cool video. But will add pics too. Note the paper airplane. The green bucket contains play sand. One year a cardboard box was among the nominees. Past include EZ bake oven, green army men, jump rpoe.

I'm surprised that a couple of sticks didn't make it in......that seems to be the toy of choice of the little boys around here; hitting each other with them appears to be great fun.

I will have to look over past entries. Sticks may already be in.

I hate to admit it, but we use to have B.B gun wars. Rules: no hitting above the waist. Did you ever try to aim a B.B. gun? Young and stupid, I admit.

I still have a little dimple over my left eye where the neighbor boy shot me with his Daisy Red Ryder BB rifle on Christmas afternoon in 1957 or so. Give a boy a bb rifle and he'll shoot someone. It was my fault, though. I wanted to shoot it, too, and he said no.....so I grabbed the barrel and pulled. The results were as expected.
