National Vietnam Veterans Day

Thank you all for your service, to those who never made it home to their families, may you rest peacefully. To those who came home suffering with physical and emotional disabilities like PTSD, may you get all the help, care and love to help you live your life as comfortably and safely as possible. 🇺🇸

I worked very hard against this war, but NEVER You, my beloved fellow American brothers (and sisters). I wanted you home safe, with me, to enjoy our young lives together. This tragedy of our youth has been a huge hurdle for our generation. I am so sorry that this horror happened for you and those who did not serve. Special hug for you SD.

I say thank you for my husband who is a Vietnam veteran. He is struggling now with health issues but is still remembering those days, too.

Hugs to you and your husband.

My son’s father was over there in 68-69. He got blown off a track and came home with a steel pin in his hip and inoperable schrapnel in his back.

We went our separate ways when our son was 10. I always thought he managed to stay fairly well adjusted until our son’s fatal car accident when he was 19. We both went to absolute pieces, but my ex went off the rails. It was as if everything in Nam caught up to him.

My ex has had two strokes that I know about and has been in a VA home for quite a few years. Even now that is hard for me grip because he was not only smart, but such an outdoor-loving person. While we were married, my anniversary gifts were things like chainsaws, campers, and floor scrubbers- stuff I needed, lol

I know the strength it takes for you to manage life. You and your husband are in my prayers.

Oh my goodness, @Imogene; I cannot even begin to imagine that level of physical and emotional agony, for both of you. 😢 I'm sending prayers and a hug.

@squatting dog, thanks so much for flagging this. I am embarrassed to admit I was not aware there is a National Vietnam Veterans Day. I was born in 1968, but I have tremendous gratitude to all those who served. It sounds literally (and I almost never use the word literally) hellacious.

thank you to all the vets the aussie ones as well
