Navage - good or bad?

A nasal irrigation instrument. I am not convinced that this is in any way beneficial. While it may wash out dust and germs - not all germs are bad and are actually needed (normal flora). In addition, washing out the protective layer of mucus in the nasal passages may be ill-advised. People are so germaphobic these days that they may actually be impeding their immune systems by being "too clean". There are many videos of this device online, if you want to view them.

That's another product that Dr. Oz endorsed on his show. Just as with the Green Coffee Extract for miraculous weight loss, he had people on the show who raved about the wonderful benefits they got from it. Well paid, of course.
The "Killing Germs" issue is also used to sell mouthwash - another bad idea.
Money talks.

I recently learned that nasal mucus is the first line of defense for your immune system. It only becomes a 'nuisance' when it's actually doing its job of trapping and disposing of invading microbes. I remind myself of this every time I have to blow blobs of it out of my nose. "Bye bye, dead microbes!"
