Nearby Wildfire Brings Out Good People

Another wildfire was ignited by lightning yesterday afternoon, burned and spread throughout the night. It is about 12 miles from me as the crow flies. Latest estimates say it is 700 acres and 0% contained. Evacuations are ongoing in that area, which is mostly ranches and farms. I am amazed at the people who have posted that they have barns and corrals available, with trailers hooked up and ready to go to move animals, etc., and will help relocate livestock if anybody needs it. There are still some good people in this world.

There is plenty of vegetation between here and there; I am keeping a close watch on this. If it gets this far, lots of people will be affected. Orchards aplenty here, apples, peaches, cherries and right now is harvest time for cherries and peaches. It would be a huge loss.

I hope you and yours will stay safe and the fire doesn't come any closer to you! It's amazing and wonderful how adversity brings out the good in people (or perhaps brings out the good people). We always see stories about people, neighbors and strangers who rise to the occasion and help others when a catastrophe hits. Why can't we as human beings behave like that all the time?

I think it does Diva, just in smaller ways like: a teenager helping a senior load their groceries into their car, a small town (like near me) who sets up a community "Give Away" cabinet and people put diapers/formula, canned and boxed goods, etc in it for others to take as needed. I see people helping people in those small ways nearly every time I am out. It's just the big catastrophes that are news worthy. There will always be the other side too, History sure proves that.
