Need a dental plan.....

American Dental Association opposes covering the insurance in medicare I think. No reason it should
Be so costly...and of course dentists make mistakes regularly through treatment or no treatment. DecisionOne
Is a smaller plan, cheap, but doesn't cover implants or dentures. Also Carrington plans, 10 or 20% off prices
That I used for many years. A discounter. Hard to find dentists who carry these providers in your area or mine
 

I have Liberty dental as a rider on my Medicare Blue Cross Blue Shield advantage plan, I pay $42 a month. That gives me three cleanings and routine x-rays a year plus $2,500 in dental care. There was a change this year that they will no longer cover dental implants, I can live with that.

In the five years I have had the plan I have never been denied any treatment, and have spent the full $2,500 each year. I've struggled with dental problems since I was a kid, even though I practice good dental hygen. I never had dental insurance while working so the $42 a month I spend is well worth it to me.
 
I used to have full Medi-Cal coverage for dental work and my assigned Dentist was great. She was a rookie, only out of college and everything else for three years, but she was very good and she was as gentle as you could hope for from a Dentist. I too have had dental problems all of my life. So we discussed dentures and I decided to get them. She was taking my teeth out two at a time, as she's not an oral surgeon, and everything was going fine. With eight teeth to go, the pandemic hit and her office shut down when California went into lockdown.

By the time I had my lengthy round of Covid, and finally got out of the hospital, I only had seven and a half teeth left as one of the hospitals broke one when I was being intubated when I was in a coma. And naturally, after almost three years of the Pandemic and all of the fun that came with it, Medi-Cal had cancelled Dental coverage. So now I'm stuck with seven and a half teeth. I can't only get emergency extractions now. Oh, Joy...
