Hi first time on the board, wanted to get opinions from my peers. I am 76 years old no real health problems. But all of sudden now at night I find that I am peeing a little. Spoke to my doctor and he does not see any cause for it but he suggests I take myrbetriq. I've tried not drinking too much water before going to bed as well. Wanted to get the thoughts of anyone that has faced it and maybe there is a better solution my doctor has not thought of. Thank you in advance.

Welcome to the forum Mosh, I hope you enjoy your time here.

You could always try something like Depends for men.

A friend is having similar problems due to kidney stones. I brought him special underwear designed for use during sleep.

Do some reading on the internet about the condition called "Nocturia"....there are several good articles. In addition to frequent urination, are you noticing any pain or odor? If so, you may have a UTI....Urinary Tract Infection....in which case, you may need to take an antibiotic for a few days.

If your doctor is not a urologist, then you need to see one to be sure its not something serious. Take it from me, I've had 3 prostate operations, 3 kidney stones, and lots of "plumbing" problems. See a urologist - I go to see mine now twice a year.

I have been taking tumeric with bio-perine and it is not a miracle cure. I wish people would stop using the word "miracle" and "cure". In the past few months I have sudden urges to urinate but none at night but when I awake in the morning it have to hit the toilet first thing. I look at it as one of the many joys of aging.

If you are not waking up to go to the bathroom, why not set an alarm clock for a few hours after you go to bed. Maybe if you get up and take care of business you'll get accustomed to waking up. Good luck, and I agree with the suggestion to see a urologist.

One thing that might be 'a' contributing factor is a possible heart issue. When the body is laying down or flat it's level with the heart which makes it easier for it to move/pump fluids around the body. Theoretcially couldn mean your body is simply processing more fluids faster at night lying down. When up right your body/heart has to work a little harder but your body might also be using up existing fluids faster as well, not as much need when less active ie asleep.
