My husband and I have recently had some experiences in which we began to think about writing out some documents to be better prepared for our final days on this Earth. We have had some discussion about being put on life support, and also planned out how we would divide our estate. We are just unsure of the paperwork and the process on how we can fully write out our will. Any advice would be extremely helpful as we aren't spring chickens anymore! Please describe in detail how we can go about taking care of this matter.
Thank you in advance!!;)

I agree with @packleader you can easily do your own using software. I used nolo.

You may also want to talk to a lawyer, kind of depends on how complicated your situation is. However if you start with the software and just ask for a review it will cost a lot less than starting with a lawyer from scratch. You will also know better what questions to ask.

Best of luck with it.

And welcome to the forum!

We had a lawyer do our will. Then to make sure our wishes were followed, we put our son as half owner of the car, and 1/3 owner of our home.

We used a lawyer when my husband was diagnosed with terminal cancer. We were young, at 46 we did not think it was a rush situation until then a lawyer is not necessary but if you have a big estate to be split between many children, it would be best. It is not just about the money but to be clear about who gets what pieces of jewelry, who gets Grandmothers china and anything else you hold dear. Money is easily split but certain property can cause quite a stir. My MIL did her own, had it witnessed and notarized, family friend did the same, we had no problems in court.

Do it with a solicitor. I think it is well worth the expense.

We went to a lawyer to get an estate package. Here is what it contained:
Power of attorney for financial for both of us
Power of attorney for healthcare for both of us
Health care directives
Pour over wills for both of us.
It was all in a binder. Inside the binder I included the following:
List of all our accounts with the firm and account numbers
List of the names, addresses and phone numbers of all the firms
List of all our passwords for the various websites.
