Netflix-Babylon Berlin

I read good reviews about this show http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4378376/?ref_=nv_sr_2 so I started it the other night and now am half way through the first season. The acting and production is first rate. The story did start off a little slow but it is picking up now. The basic premise of the show is about a cop moving from Cologne to Berlin in 1929. There is a lot more to it than that though. Lot's of political intrigue and a look at the excess of Berlin at that time. The only downside that I have found so far is that Netflix is showing an English dubbed version (the show is a German production) but you can go into the settings and set it to the original German version with English subtitles.

Thank you for the heads up, Mark. I'm always looking for ways to practice listening to spoken German (especially with subtitles). And the show sounds interesting, too.

.

The association between Berlin and Babylon is interesting.
The German Weimar Republic was very degenerate.

Just a comment on subtitles vs dubbing in general-

I'm fine with subtitles but I miss so much of things I want to see in the way of photography, costuming, set design, other people's facial expressions and movements in a scene around the main characters of that scene.

So, since dubbing makes the actors seem a bit silly at first, it's better for me, meine Lieblinge. :playful:

I understand that but this dubbing is very bad. I swear the same male voice actor is doing all the voices ! Sounds like it anyway...lol
