Never worry (?)

Old codger
"You die if you worry, you die if you don't so why worry?"

That maxim hasn't stopped me being a worrier, but I have heard it said often enough to know a lot of people think that way, and admit it is worth attempting to follow if you can (?) :).

I think it's just human nature to think and maybe even worry about the important things in life.....it's not a bad thing in my book.

One of my old bosses said "Worry is interest on a debt that is not due yet"

I think worrying is fine as long as it is constructive and helps you come up with a solution to a problem.

Worrying can also help to keep you safe or prevent you from taking too great a risk.

Laying in bed with the covers over your head worrying about things that are completely out of your control doesn't really do much good.

Depends on what a person worries about. If it's something they have control over then worry can lead to a resolution to whatever the problem is.

If there is no control, worry is a waste of time.

I know, and you're right of course, but that kind of worrying that is a complete waste of time does seem to creep up on one now and again regardless of how much I try to remind myself how irrational it is.

Do you think that comes from a lifetime of experiences or from early childhood and family dynamics?

Probably a very young age.....

I do think I was a worrier from a very early age for whatever reason (maybe family dynamics though conversely my younger brother didn't seem to worry too much himself). Hopefully I'm a bit less of a worrier nowadays, perhaps helped by a lifetime's experience I feel.
