New Age Vertical Record Players

I don't think there's one of us who didn't have a record player back in the day. I had most experience with 45s and 33 1/3rds, but some 78s in memory. Here's a new verticle record player. http://www.boredpanda.com/vertical-vinyl-record-player-roy-harpaz-toc/

Israel-based designer Roy Harpaz has come up with an elegant and sleek new vertical design for a record player that effortlessly combines futuristic design and retro function in an egg-shaped package.

Unlike the traditional turntables we’re used to, this one plays the record vertically, almost putting it on display. By scanning through a record, the player can find different points in the song, allowing listeners to skip tracks. This, along with the remote, helps make it a more modern home device, though the wood panel on the front gives it a retro appeal nonetheless.

I still have my rather large record collection from the '70's and '80's. I put my old Sansui 9090DB, Thorens Turntable and the huge JBL speakers in the basement, where I keep my home gym. Whenever I am working out, I put on some old vinyl, and enjoy. IMO, the modern "digital" sound quality just isn't quite as good as the old vinyl played on quality equipment. This old "70's era equipment is becoming quite collectible, and people are paying twice, or more, for it now, than it originally cost.

Yup, I still have all of my old vinyl LP's and the gear to play them as well, not to mention a complete collection of cassettes and player / recorders and CD's and THEIR players. I most often just use the digital stuff with the eminently portable electronic devices for convenience these days, but wholeheartedly agree that absolutely NOTHING beats the sound of those 'ancient classics' on their creaky little turntable blaring through five foot speakers.

Borrrrrn to be wiiiiiiiiilldd!

I still have many original 45's from the late 50's and 60's. The idea of a vertical player is not so new. I remember when jukeboxes had a vertical player.
