New Christ Statue to Be Even Taller Than Rio's Giant One

Would somebody care to explain why the height of a statue is the slightest bit important? Although the emphasis on the height may be coming from the media. The statue could be a magnificent work of art, for all I know, and the height is irrelevant, let alone childish comparisons to other statues of Jesus. What is this, the stone age?

From what I understand, Brazil is a mess. It's a desperately poor country, with Covid-19 running rampant. Endless human suffering and need. And this is what people are donating their money to?

Yeah....as if some "symbolism" is going to make Brazil a better nation....fat chance. Brazil, and most of the South/Central American nations, are a mess, with government corruption and incompetence running rampant. That's why our southern borders are being overrun with refugees seeking a better life.

Would it be possible for America to invest money in Brazil? This would be a much better long-term solution to the problem of migrants.

IMO a very tall statue esp a religious statue can be very inspirational. The taller the statue the further from which it can be seen. I understand the concern over cost but I also believe it is hard to place a price on a religious figure which can bring solace to many.

I think the statue in Rio is magnificent..I can imagine people looking up and finding peace by the mere presence..

It's probably cultural Sunny. Most South Americans are Catholics. Most Latinos for that matter too so this is important to them from their perspective.

Most religions believe size matters. Just check out Rome and other silly monuments to their God while people starve. Pass the plate.
