New gadget could help officers avoid use of excessive force, replace tazers

I remember reading that script in the 1950's NYPD Patrol Guide. TPF and the "no nonesense guys" in the divisions cut to the chase with one good crack to the skull. Nothing more to see here citizens, move along now.
Yes, and they started making police batons out of rubber instead of wood, and they were a lot thinner, too....but not until about a decade later.

I don't see the bolo-wrap doing any significant harm, used correctly. But it looks like something that would take quite a bit of training to use effectively as well as safely. I'm totally on board with non-lethal tools. Good for the good guys, good for the bad guys.

Considering some cops can't even tell their Tasers from their handguns, all the training in the world won't make a difference. :ROFLMAO:

I just checked that article out. I think i'd rather get shot then having fish hooks embedded in me. Speaking of high tech wizbang cop toys, remember the black aluminum nightsticks with the removable caps? The AMTRAK cops in the Metropolitan Region and the LIRR cops East of NYP were forbidden to wear them because of 3rd rail territory. Heard tell of one genius who actually put 12 guage 00 slugs in them. Why I'll never know.
