My profile says 5:50AM but it is 11:50PM not sure why?

Well I just joined & wanted to say HI! to all of you. My name is Bob, I live in Alberta, Canada & I am 66 years old. I live in a nice independent seniors residence. I have some very nice friends but no family left to speak of so maybe I can use this forum to unload some thoughts as I do not want to worry my offline friends. OMG? that may sound awful to you, but you also can unload your problems on me so maybe this can be a win win situation.

I am a bit sad today as 5 years ago I had a complete aorta by-pass (plastic-tube). Now this week after a ultrasound my doctor told me my both coratic arteries in my neck going to my brain are 70% blocked. Every day I have is a gift. I doubt I will accept to go for surgery after I talk with my surgeon this week as I kinda think the risk of a major stroke is to great. I was expecting this news as I have been having TIA's (minor strokes) weekly. Oh! almost forgot 2 years ago I had a cancer tumor removed from a vocal cord. HECK!! I am 1 hell of a mess LOL. Guess what, none this bothers me too much. Gee I was mugged walking home from work in 1989 & left disabled not able to ever work again. EVERY single word I have told you is truthful. I love to joke & have fun & enjoy life. I joined here to hopefully make a few nice friends & be there for you if your ever going thru a had time. I plan to live much longer, I am too stubborn to go & I doubt GOD or the devil wants me. :) Have fun people, there is always someone who loves you....Bob

Morning, Bob.
it is 9.15am here; I am not usually up this early, but I am going to a taster session for indoor bowls this morning.
could be fun!

Hi Bob ,

Goodness me you do seem to have been put through the mill healthwise, what a terrible thing to have been attacked so badly you could never work again and now have so many health problems, but it's nice to hear you're so upbeat about everything.

Welcome to the forum from London England..we're by and large a friendly bunch so I hope you enjoy it here. Feel free to offload anything you wish..we all do it at some point or other. :D

The time on here is set to GMT, so it's correct for me at 9.20am, I don't know if you can go into settings somewhere and change it to a time zone to suit you..but anyway that's the reason it's showing a different time to you than me.

Good Morning Bob, and welcome to the forum! Glad you found us and thanks for sharing your story. We are all living on borrowed time, and our life is what we make of it. On the whole,we are a friendly group, and you will find many a friendly ear to share your joys and woes with. I am sure you will find your place among us and fit in quite nicely. Cheers! :)

Good morning Bob, Welcome to the forum.
I hope you will find it interesting to spend time here. Sorry to hear you have serious health
problems; we all need to make the most of each day we are given and do the best we can.
I think you will find friends here and will enjoy joining in the discussions.

:welcome:

Good Morning, Bob. Glad that you found us. We are a friendly bunch, unless you want to debate politics or religion. (Naw, just kidding.) I am sorry for your circumstances. Life can be a challenge at times. My sister had TIA's due to her carotids being blocked. It is somewhat of a dangerous procedure, but f you have a very good cardiologist, you should do fine, but that's your choice. When my sister, who is single, had her's done, I stayed at the hospital until well after she came out of recovery. I was more nervous than she was.

I wish you well and don't worry about venting or whatever it is you need to do to feel better. There are plenty of good people her that want to help others.

Hi Bob, welcome to the forum...yes, we all need to unload at times and this is a good place for that, so just unload anytime you want, we're all here to help one another.

7 AM here.

Good morning Bob and a very warm welcome this forum. You've had a tough row to hoe and I hope that everything
irons out smoothly for you from now on.

I liked your introduction. You told us everything we need to know about you and it shows your whereabouts on every post; unlike many others.

Hi Bob. I've only been here for a few weeks. I live sorta near Buffalo, NY but my father was born near a place called Red Dear, Alberta. Maybe our ancestors crossed paths a hundred years ago. Hope you get some relief from your health issues. Do you get along with the other folks there? It would be good if you could cultivate a confidant, a person to share experiences with. Do you care to seek counsel from a minister, health care professional, or is there someone there who can address quality of life issues?

Hello Bob, :welcome: Your in the right place for being able to voice what you can't to those around you. When I started on this forum, I was so full of woe is me, I am amazed that at the tolerance and patience these kind folks showed me. They even put up with my off the wall questions. I don't want it to go to their heads, but I've never met a better group of "friend"'.
By the way I am Ina, and I'm from Texas. :hatoff:

Good morning, Bob. We're a nice bunch here. Stick around!

My mom had the carotid artery surgery...twice on each side. The first time was almost 40 years ago, and I'd think that it's been refined a good bit since then. You might want to give careful consideration to having it done.

Hello Bob, sounds like you've been through quite a lot! Happy you've decided to join us here, and I love your positive attitude! Been to Alberta, and it is beautiful country there! :)

you will feel at home and make many friends and as you say , can help others in situations like yours or just to talk over problems
or share your thoughts with one another.. I am Rainee and from Australia , have you ever been here? enjoy your day and look
forward to reading and sharing with you on here.. :)

Hi, Bob -- I'm new here, too, and I also wondered about the fact that the posted time didn't match mine. It's 2:00-ish in the morning here and the thing said it was about 8:00. I wondered what time zone we were in. Thanks for asking the question so I didn't have to!

Hi Bob, and welcome. I am new here too, and also from Alberta. The members here are friendly people as you can already tell. I, personally, have enjoyed reading the discussions on this site and have shared some insights of my own. You seem to have a realistic view toward your life, and a positive one as well. That's a good combination. Are you able to get out of the senior's residence you live in once in a while - go for a walk, visiting others, shopping? This is a beautiful time of year on the Prairies, especially in the river valleys. If you feel safer doing so, go out with a companion, one of those offline friends you mentioned.
