That’s fabulous. I shall check your Amazon books. How long have you been writing and how did it come about? Has it always been an interest or did some in particular trigger it?
Do you ever write longer stories or have any plans to?

I used to be a cartoonist ( and I have been published in a few magazines- nothing memorable) but got bored of it and tried my hand at writing about 40 years ago
I have been published in a few anthologies, but they are all out of print unfortunately.
I'm working on a ghost story novel and a fantasy novel. Hoping to get them out there by the end of this year
Sometimes it gets discouraging because people seem to be reading less and less preferring to be distracted by the bells and whistles lightshow from their phones and streaming services
Not that thats bad I myself indulge in streaming movies but I make the time to read
Few people actively read for entertainment anymore

Thank you. 40 years is a long time.
Good luck on your longer stories. It sounds interesting.

I agree with you about people preferring to be distracted online but many people also listen to audio books. My husband, for one, listens to audio books everyday. Have you considered that as an option?
Have to go walk the dogs?
I’ll catch up later.
Have a great day.

I did have a book on amazon audible once but I have no money for marketing. No way to let people know the book was available. This is a problem many self published writers have, Unless you are a big time writer like James Patterson, YOU are the marketing team. It's up you to arrange news paper and radio interviews and book signings at libraries ( and it's also up to you to make the time for these things in between the other aspects of your life like work, the kids, the lawn, chores, laundry, sleep.
And yes, while you try to make people aware of the first book you should be finding time to work on the second book. Writing is not for sissies. It's a full time job.
Catch up later when you find the time thanks for the replies

I hadn’t thought of the advertising aspect of it all. Audio books are really my preference. For me personally I read to relax my mind and body. The idea of listening to a book while focussing on something else. All I know is that Amazon offers free audio books as well as e books and some of the authors I’m familiar with while some of them I’m not and I’ll give you an example .

Boo Walker has a few books out on Amazon however when I look him up, I find nothing which makes me wonder if he is an exclusive writer for Amazon. If that the case, maybe you’d be interested. I remember years ago Amazon letting its members know that if they had a business, did a craft they wanted to sell or if you were a writer that they had a platform for just that. It might be worth checking out.

Another place that isn’t expensive to advertise is Etsy. I’m not sure if you’ve considered their platform. It’s .20 cents for 3 months and a small percentage off what you sell.

Working with creativity has its own unique challenges. You can be on a creative roll but like you mention, you’ve still got daily obligations.

Welcome & wishing you the best.
