...and so my fondness of Tullamore continues, and has me looking close at Irish whiskeys. I do like Bushmills very much, it would be hard to decide between Tullamore and Bushmills....but it occurs to me: I don't have to choose one over the other.I became curious from seeing the Irish whiskeys nearby on the liquor store shelf, so I grabbed a bottle of Tullamore Dew to try.
Birthday loot today. And more to come over Christmas - three more whiskies I think
Sorry to be a kill joy, but keep in mind that alcohol is basically a Poison.
I drank Johnnie Walker Black for many years and then a few years ago the fella at the liquor store talked me into trying a single malt sherry cask finished scotch......Dalmore 12 is all I drink now.

I was just asking Bing about where to buy single malt bourbon or whiskey. About to finish this Lismore. Single malt Scotch, but I expect it's only $25 because no aging is on the label. The Dalmore is on my shopping list.
As I mentioned- am looking to sample Welsh whiskeys, I may have to find them online as sources here are scarce and widespread.

If you are interested in longevity, develop a taste for 3 - 4 ounces a day of Pinot Noir.
Your post was in reply to my recommendation of Pinot Noir. Just to be clear, since that post my opinion of alcohol has changed. Alcohol unfortunately is a poison.Yes! or Cote de Rhone
I remember my first encounter with Scotch, I was working as an industrial maintenance mechanic in a plastics extrusion plant. the production line was down for Christmas holidays. Around noon the maintenance foreman( a Scotsman) invited all the mechanics to his office to sample some holiday cheer Scotch. I tried the Johnny Walker Red, then sampled the Johnny Walker Black, I didn't like either one.Bourbon man meself - never have liked scots whiskey - brandy ok and occasional rums and vodkas [not together] mature pallet?? - or maybe damaged??
