Living out in the sticks, I depend a lot more on the internet these days. When i first moved here, the internet was chronically slow. Then it was updated to 'just about working'. Over the years it speeded up to 'snails pace' but just recently it became very erratic and unreliable. A few weeks ago and engineer checked it out and fixed a bad connection in a junction box, but things didn't improve.
Yesterday, I tried to run a speed test and diagnostics, but for some reason they said that they couldn't access the hub. Strange as it was obviously working. I reported the fault again, and the man I spoke to said that he couldn't access the hub either to run diagnostics, so it looked like a faulty hub. No problem, he said they would send me the latest new hub free of charge. This morning, the hub arrived (that was fast) and I connected it up.
What a difference - immediate improvement in speed (up to tortoise speed) and good connectivity. I hope it stays that way as this is probably going to be the last village in the Western world to get fibre broadband.
