New Rule For Gasoline Engine Cars in 2026

the standard for gas engines will be 55 miles per gallons
That's awesome. Now I wish they would tackle the problem of appliances that break after a short time, that has to be a huge resources and carbon waster, it certainly has become a waster of my money and it is so hard to know which appliance will really last a while or not.
 

According to that article, the current standard is 38 MPG. I drive an economy car and it doesn't get 38 MPG, so WTF?
It's is based on entire fleet (passenger vehicles), which includes hybrids, electric and has major adjustments for the so-called flex-fuel vehicles and what is called a passenger vehicle versus truck, and the foot-print thing, not to mention the "estimated MPG".
