New Scam Targeting Unsolicited Amazon Packages & Phone QR Codes?

I just heard about this: supposedly people are getting unsolicited packages from Amazon (and maybe other shippers?) and when they open it, there's something in there with a QR code on it that you're supposed to scan with your phone and then it downloads malware to your phone.

Anybody else heard about this?

This is a scam I can see people falling for.

Although I do not use amazon and any other sort of pkg sent to me from kids for example I am alerted to watch for. i would not open or if did would not scan a code imagine the cost put into this if they did not expect a big reward like ID theft or bank access.

Some people I speak too laugh...... like i am TOO careful about possible scams ....they say "it is all good ".... but I have seen one of those types taken by a scam and always felt good I did not say a peep about it ........as she gave our walking group a lecture about being careful for scams. Bless her heart.

Haven't heard of this specifically, but am not attracted to scanning QR codes as they often don't lead to helpful product information.
