Don't you just love the continual evolution of health knowledge? Keeps us busy, adding things to our dietary lists, eliminating others, upping this nutrient, reducing that one.....almost hard to keep up isn't it?

Well one more change folks and it looks like our Vitamin D levels have to be adjusted too! Currently the RDA is apparently between 600 and 800 IU per day, depending on your age, but that has been increased recently to 7,000 IU per day.

'...We need far more vitamin D than previously thought, according to two teams of researchers from Canada and the U.S.
The Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) for vitamin D is ten times lower than what we actually need, say two teams of researchers who have challenged the US's National Academy of Sciences (NAS) and the Institute of Medicine (IOM), both responsible for the RDA....' http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2015/03/19/vitamin-d-deficiency_n_6901972.html

So next time there is a sale on Vitamin D, stock up because unless you're able to be outside every day, getting the sun, you'll need a whole lot more pills.

I can remember when everyone thought they were getting all they needed in fortified milk. The form of vitamin D used to fortify milk was useless. Then everyone thought they were doing fine because the took a 200 iu pill everyday. That was before people started taking testing seriously. I've been taking 4000 iu per day and a recent 25-hydroxy vitamin D test put me at 60 ng/ml. The protocol I follow is different from QS
