New study- we don't gradually age.

Age, me? Don't be silly, but I tell you what, every time I use my mirror some wrinkled old fart keeps getting in the way. Old, listen, when I first had the internet, Google ran on candlelight.
Actually I might be getting old, the second sign of age is memory loss. I can't remember the first. Yes I can, it's sex. Er, can anyone remind me, who ties who up?

Don't waste your time waiting GG

I have had health problems on and off most of my life but would not say they 'aged' me.

Yes , my body has aged and I think we cannot fail to notice that but the mind comes into play as well and I have never really felt that
in any paricular way.

At this grand old age of 91 I do see some things differently and have changed my miind many times over the years but I would not call it ageing.nono.gif

At 69...I of course have signs of ageing ..wrinkles on my face, neck, etc that is noticeable .. other places that are not noticeable to the outside world there's no winkles.... feet don't look as nice as they once did... hair is starting to become quite thin....I wear glasses for distance and reading... and so on..

My very personal question if anyone wants to answer it who is older than me... what happens to your body when you get really old.. different to what I've stated already ?..

I've always wanted to know, and I don't have any older relatives to ask.. and my mum died young, so she never got to be old..or have wrinkles at all..
 
I think it depends on life events for me.

In my early 30's, I felt like I was really old. I used to tell people that I felt like I was a hundred. Then when I was 35, I fell in love and anti-aged. I felt like I was 18.

Other life events have made me feel older or younger. It's only when a number (age) gets in my head that I think about it much.

Wrinkles are a badge of honour IMO. They denote wisdom and experience, and are nothing to be ashamed of.

I'm 81 and waging a defensive war against skin cancers - a problem that besets fair skinned Aussies.

I've been lucky so far with respect to conditions like diabetes and heart problems, and osteoarthritis has been dealt with by multiple joint replacements.

I feel younger now that I felt during my seventies, and free of pain, I look younger in the face as well.
However, I have recently been sent a new reminder that I am still getting older in the form of a prolapsed uterus. This time the GP says, "No operation for you", so I'll just have to accept this latest manifestation of my chronological age. What other option do I have?

Goodness Warri you've been through the ill with ailments.. 🤗 thank you for being so honest about a very personal question...

I have OA, I've mentioned it here many times.. that started about 8 years ago ...

I'm so sorry to hear about the prolapsed Uterus that you're going to have to live with.. I hope there's something they can give you which will ease any discomfort..

My mom was the same. At age 84 she called the ambulance in the middle of the night because she was hemorrhaging. After she got there she had a small stroke. They asked her age and she said 84. When they called her sister to come because none of us kids lived there they told her the stroke affected her mind because she said she was 84 and they knew she couldn’t be older than 64. My aunt told them she knew how old she was. It was written in the hospital medical records and my mom was very proud about that.
 
I looked younger than I was until I was 60 and then that ship sailed 🤣. Luckily my hair is not thinning and my mom’s never did. I have wrinkles of course. I have noticed a change in my energy levels the past 3 months.

Two days a week I am helping my friend all day carrying her stuff to my car or the dumpster plus all my regular volunteering and activities. The days I help my friend I come home at 5pm, shower, get in my pjs and go to bed between 8/9. A few years ago I could have worked all day physically with no issues.
 
Stress is the killer for me. I feel lousy and look older. When going through serious stress my skin will wrinkle badly, I think maybe from making stressful faces all the time? Dynamic wrinkles will become Static ones. Time for intense retinol treatment and some laughter. This is why I try to find things to laugh at everyday. It really does help you look and feel younger when your mood is better.
 
Along with time abuse of the body wether it be physical, diet or lifestyle definitely speed up that clock/schedule.

The body can do alot of things well into our senior years but it depends on the condition going in.

For me it's not just that slower or weaker it seem's the body slowly but steadily goes one part at a time. I noticed alot of smaller muscles and 'supporting' parts like ligaments and tendons starting going first. I get pain in body parts and areas I didn't realize I had. I've pushed/abused my body only feeling soreness or tightness after exertion, now its pain and poor function.
 
Age spurt? is that what happens during inter--?
