New thread to post problems caused by recent forum changes

I've been making frequent changes recently, which must have caused a lot of confusion. Hopefully, this new thread will make things clearer.

If you encounter errors when submitting a new thread/post and find them unreasonable, please post them here. Please only post errors happened after this post.

Please don't start posting one-liners only because of the 120-word paragraph rule. Instead, continue posting as you normally world, and only split your posts when you encounter errors. This will help me identify potential problems.

Lastly, every 120-word limit error will be logged and examined. When you get the error, I get all the details of your error, so you don't have to report anything.

Thank you all for your patience! It takes time to make things work perfectly.

i get it. Noticed you've upped the max to 130 words. But still it seems once i get an error message i keep getting it, even after making much shorter 'paragraph'.

And even tho there are comments approaching the max much closer between breaks than i have in that post.

i will split into 1-2 sentences lines per paragraph and it still keeps throwing up the error tho NONE of the segments exceed 100 words. Tried leaving that thread visiting different one briefly and going back--still get.

Why are some people able to post 10-15 line comments and some of us can't exceed 1 lines??? Or is it just me????

@feywon, thanks for letting me know, it's been fixed, now you should be able to post 120-word paragraph without any hassles. Considering all kinds of devices and various browsers, the format (invisible tags) of submitted posts can be quite different, the program needs to cover all of them. This one could be the last piece of the puzzle.

I don't know if this will help, but on this forum, I get about 25 - 30 words per line typing up a post. This means if I type 4 lines then that should be 120 words or less. Of course, I don't know if words are counted as the actual words typed or if the number of characters typed determines the final word count. Short paragraphs make for easier reading or scanning a post for interest.

Perhaps most folks have a very short attention span? It is caused by countless hours of flickering TV shows.
Not just that. Social Media has contributed as well. When the great migration from the first senior site i was on (which closed) to FB occurred their system didn't like long responses and X/Twitter started with very small cap on messages.

That said while my brain wants to follow the paragraph rules i learned in school, i do understand people not wanting to dive into posts of dozens of lines with no breaks. It can be hard on old eyes also for dyslexic folks.

Why is this even an issue? Please explain why it's become important to limit the words in a paragraph. Thanks.
Despite the fact that one is not required to read every post and comment and can always skip them recently there were more people shall we say 'mentioning' that problem, tho as the posting of articles by copy/paste issue shows professionals of all kinds use longer paragraphs.

i know i get long winded myself but even before this new system i tried to make breaks every 10 or so lines. It is easier on the eyes. This also makes it easier to 'quote' if someone wants only to respond to a specific point one has made or related.

What i've taken to doing if i'm posting something long is to type out all i want to say. Then as i proofread i break it up. Sometimes easier than others. And yes i generally proof before posting (and still sometimes miss typos, which i'll correct if spot them during 'edit' time we get

@Matrix

Thank you for all you do giving us this space to communicate with our peers. Frustrated as i was yesterday i have some small understanding of the complexity of writing code. Firstly from a course i took in it when when went to college in my late 40s. Secondly because for almost a decade using PeopleSoft for HR database and having to beta test each time they 'upgraded' it.

After the problem reported by @feywon was fixed, there are no more false triggers. Approximately five errors exceeding the 120-word limit occurred in the past 24 hours, all resulting in reformatted posts - simple and effective.

The changes can now be considered as finally settled.
