New to forum with medical/mental request for help

I do know that anesthesia can cause depression. I remember having surgery many years ago. I woke feeling great but I went into a severe depression a couple of days later. It is rare, but it does happen. Here are some causes:

"Yes, anesthesia can cause depression after surgery, but it's not common. The causes of this depression are likely complex and include a number of factors.

Factors that may contribute to post-surgical depression
  • Preoperative mood: How you were feeling before surgery

  • Surgery location: Where on your body the surgery took place

  • Anesthetics: The type of anesthetic used

  • Post-operative mobility: How well you're able to move around after surgery

  • Genetics: Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in genes related to serotonin may play a role"
I sincerely hope you are able to move beyond this.
