Hi there everyone! My granddaughter helped me set this thing up.
I recently moved to Fort Lauderdale Florida from South Africa and I have had trouble finding places to meet people of my age here. So, I thought, I would give this a try.

Hi Gerald.
i went to SA last summer for 5 weeks, with a friend of mine, who, though English, was married to a South African for nearly 40 years.
where abouts do you come from, if I may ask?

Born in Cape Town, transferred to Port Elizabeth then East London then Joburg, retired back to East London.
Where did you visit? And how did you like it?

Started in PE, went down to Cape Town via the Garden route on a tour, (2 of us and a guide;great!); flew to Jo'burg for a couple of days; then my friend has a house on a private game reserve close to the Kruger; so we stayed there for 3 weeks, with 2 days in the Kruger, then back to Jo'burg and home.

It was magic....I loved every minute of it!

I lived in Kirstenhof a suburb of Cape Town for 12 months also spent 3 weeks staying in Port Elizabeth.
 
Loved it!

Hope you are settling in Florida...what an enormous change for you.

I am sure it will take a little while to settle in; meanwhile, people on here I am sure will help; not me necessarily; US and I don't always understand each other, we have language problems, and they drive on the wrong side of the road!
i drove a little in SA, but I haven't driven in US for a long time!
hope your granddaughter I'd helping you, and looking after you; bet she is loving having you near at last!
