Flying drugs over the border. One drone had 28 lbs. of heroin on it. One guy put a bomb on one and flew it over his ex's house. Voyeurs use them peeping. A home made bomb full of nails exploded over a small business. Cops can't trace them.

Whoever told you that is full of it. Drones are like any other electronic gizmo; they have a digital footprint and more than likely, are running through an app. There’s more to it, but I’ll save that for another time.

Uhm the FBI

I remember a case that involved a drone. Some clowns were hovering one with video over a backyard where a teen age girl was sunbathing in a bikini. The girl's father used his shotgun to shoot down the drone. Then the owners went to his house, intending to retrieve their drone & cause trouble. They got more trouble than they bargained for; when the father came out of his house & the guys started yelling that he destroyed their $1,900.00 drone, the father said, "If you don't get off my property, there will be another shooting."

I'm not sure what is the law about drones, IF there is one. I'm sure you can fly one over your own property, but cameras can see more than your own place. You may own the air space over your home, but how far does that ownership go? 100ft, 200 ft. Can a drone overfly your allotted air space (I don't know say, 400ft)? Low flying planes don't need your permission to fly over your property, so what about drones, which can fly at the altitude.
PA here's the url for the drone story.

Every state has different laws and it may be counties as well. There are federal laws pertaining to some violations as well. The majority of the drug carrier drones are home made by the drug cartel.

Umm.... NO! Homeland Security (DHS), DEA and the FBI have been tracking and tracing drones for at least the past few years. The U.K. has also been tracking and tracing drones for at least the past few years. The reason I use the words “at least” is because since my retirement, I am no longer in the loop to know what’s been going on. Ever since the first drone and operator or pilot was nabbed for illegal activities, DHS took over being the main Watchdog.

Here in the U.S., the state police in most states are being kept informed of drone operations in their state from illegal operators or pilots. I was never involved in any of that covert stuff. Mostly, guys in the undercover/surveillance worked all of that, but only to the point of aiding with arrests. Homeland Security and the FBI are very picky with who does what with those types of operations as they should be.
