New Video Shows Thousands of Migrants Headed on Foot to Southern US Border

Well, I did look it up, and assumed you had too.

Here's a page about, for example, Texas:

The Meaning of Invasion Under the Compact Clause of the U.S. Constitution

What I'm trying to understand is how migration is an "invasion" in this context.

Blacks Law Dictionary defines it as: "An encroachment upon the rights of another; the incursion of an army for conquest or plunder."

Again, how would that apply?
Your link is more inline with what an Invasion is. A mere definition from a law dictionary is not a real example concerning the Constitution's meaning.

But neither fit with immigration.

I didn't do an extensive search, but I found it surprisingly difficult to find a clear definition of "invasion" in terms of the Constitution. It's probably out there, I just struggled to find it.

Probably the closest you will find is Roosevelt's speech and subsequent papers. If we recall his "Day of infamy " speech. In part:

"No matter how long it may take us to overcome this premeditated invasion, the American people will in their righteous might win through to absolute victory."

I thought of another example. The "Allied Invasion of Normandy", as it was known as.

Also, during the War of 1812, the British Invaded the United States.

Sounds like a perfect reason for worldwide increase in contraception and abortion - and just generally limiting the size of families. We are in danger of over populating this earth
I'm not sure where you get this from. We are already facing demographic collapse in all industrialized nations, some faster and some a decade or two behind them.

Demographers know this, actuaries know this, and politicians know this. Our corrupt media have turned from denying it to crowing that it will be a boon for those rich enough on the future Gentrified Earth. Anyone else making it can pick their cotton and shine their shoes I guess.

Just going by whose propaganda you're spreading, an insurrectionist supporter, election denier, anti-vaccine, etc. But.....'whatever'. ;)
I don't recall ever supporting insurrection or denying an election. I have said that I've gotten vaccines, but didn't like this one. And this is a big deal to you?

(By the way, I've already had Covid, and for me it was not very strong; felt kinda lousy, slightly feverish, kind of a cough — for a few days. Strong immune system.)

And ... others have said what I said re Israel but while I got attacked, you didn't go after them. Interesting.

Last night I was watching a video showing migrants being moved into a school in New York, and they said that the school will now be closed for the children , so they will probably be schooled from home, like happened during the pandemic, when the schools were closed.
Have you been hearing anything about this, @Pepper , or any other members who live in New York State ?

Today, Yahoo News is reporting that people are now being asked to allow the illegals into their homes in the Boston area. This is pretty scary !
Governor Healey asks residents to house migrant families amid growing shelter crisis

If this is happening in these two large cities, then the smaller cities in this country are probaby having the same conditions and we just do not hear about it happening in those areas.
Unless the government forces people to house the illegals, I do not think that very many people are going to volunteer to do that. Most of us have trouble just housing and feeding our own selves (and families if we have one), although maybe the government is providing for the illegals being housed in private homes.
What does everyone think about this happening ?

I hadn't heard of this, but I'd be beyond reluctant to invite strangers into my home. That does not seem safe to me. I don't see how — under what law — one could be forced to take in strangers who are not even in the country legally.

Paul Craney, the President of the Massachusetts Fiscal Alliance, is a first generation American who understands what migrant families are going through, but he believes the focus should be on securing the borders.
“At some point, we also have to have compassion for the people that are here,” said Paul Craney. “If Massachusetts can’t care for the people that are currently here, then why should we bring in more people in the state.”

The 3rd Amendment was in response to the British "Quartering Acts". As a primary legal premise, subject to debate of course, if the govt. can not force homes to Quarter Soldiers, housing immigrants would be Unconstitutional. Of course other legal arguments apply also.

so many things have come up .... that clearly shows a disconnect

besides telling kids to learn from home......... the school is now a shelter ... I read in the article this school kids had to be scanned and through metal detectors to go to school each day......... but no need for the migrants to be screened....

for example a shelter in the NY area had cars that were parked illegally and towed they found out .......some belonged to the migrants who came out of shelter with registration for the cars.
they are being being housed and fed .. so they have enough money on their own to buy a car (they were on TV nicer late model ones not beat up things...) no worry sure they do not have drivers license and forget about insurance coverage.

VA ripped for helping pay migrant treatment as over 400K veterans, their families wait

MSN

no wonder more and more want to cross over the border as they are put in the front of line for help/ medical etc. In front of taxpayers who fund it

The migrants were only there Tuesday night and left sometime on Wednesday. They were in tents but because the weather was so bad they were put there for less than 24 hours.

They had money to buy nicer, late model cars, that's why they were sleeping in tents on an old runway.........jeeze, think hard before you swallow the bait.

NY Post-"When contacted by The Post, the VA was adamant that the veteran claims backlog and the millions of dollars doled out to migrant health care providers were not related.

“VA does not provide or fund any health care to ICE detainees,” VA spokesman Terrence Hayes told The Post.

“This involves no more than 10 employees and is fully funded by ICE. This has no impact [on] veteran care or services,” Hayes added. “At no time are any VA health care professionals or VA funds used for this purpose.”"

Familiar with the James Madison High School incident @Happyflowerlady. So glad I'm not a parent with a kid there.

Floyd Bennett Field is the place where the migrants were complaining they had to take buses to trains, forgetting they know how to walk. Disgusted with that attitude. I know the area. They are near lots of things, they are not stranded in the middle of nowhere. There is no nowhere in NYC, every place is somewhere.

my grandparents and parents WALKED for work if they had to. Walked, not complain. No e-bikes either.

It's worth remembering that migrants won't be familiar with the the ease you can move around New York. Let alone how to walk anywhere.

My family migrated the legal way to America. The border is, in my opinion, definitely a security risk to us. But I believe most of these migrants are good people. Still, it has become also an unconscionable health risk for the migrants, who are not used to the cold temps and are mainly unvaccinated against Covid, RSV, Pneumonia , etc etc as well as their childran-no measles vacs or all the vacs our children need to get before gong to school.

I heard that doctors from the local VAMC were sent to the border- and not just from my local VA.

Againstthegrain quoted:

NY Post-"When contacted by The Post, the VA was adamant that the veteran claims backlog and the millions of dollars doled out to migrant health care providers were not related."

I agree to a small degree, but this is just SPIN-I believe the NY Post before I believe what VA says.
VA claimants need exams and submissions from VA doctors to have their claims properly adjudicated.
My neighbor 's PCP VA doctor was sent to the border.

Also the phrase "the millions of dollars doled out to migrant health care providers were not related."
is problematic- as it does not identify WHO those migrant health care providers are.

The VA has more Contracted doctors than ever before, who also have limited liability if they misdiagnose or harm a VA patient.
To the shock of many vets I know , they wear white coats, have name templates on their VA offices, and wear a lanyard but are NOT employed by the VA.

I hope this site is still up to date:
VA.gov | Veterans Affairs
A vet can put their VA 'doctor's" name into the search to see if they are really a VA employee, if they feel they have a negligence or malpractice claim.

NYC Dem Calls for Investigation After Migrants' Expensive, Unregistered Cars Were Towed from Shelter

NYC Dem Calls for Investigation After Migrants' Expensive, Unregistered Cars Were Towed from Shelter

By Elizabeth Weibel January 10, 2024 at 3:20pm

New York City Assemblywoman Jaime Williams (D) called for an investigation to be conducted after expensive and unregistered vehicles were towed from a migrant shelter.

Williams recorded a video posted to Facebook in which several unregistered vehicles were towed from a migrant encampment at Floyd Bennett Field.

The Assemblywoman told the New York Post (NYP) that she was astonished to find the pricey cars belonged to migrants who had been “begging for food and money.”

Look up there is VIDEO but i need to assume it is all made up and "think hard before buying into this...."
again what is visible but does not help a narrative does not exist.

There is no connection between health care for migrants, and health care for vets. If you're unhappy with how vets are treated, contact your representative and change the law. Doing so will have zero impact on what is done for migrants. This is a fallacy, I'm afraid. No-one is making a choice between migrants and vets. Just like the story about how vets were being turned out of hotels and their places were given to migrants. Turns out the story was completely false.

So? You think every beggar you see is truly in need? It's a grift. It doesn't surprise me at all that some migrants can afford to buy a secondhand car. That doesn't affect their immigration status.

no i do not i just do not give money and such to those I feel is a grifter.... however when taxpayer dollars as wasted and we are all told it is OK that a certain % of fraud or grifting should be accepted sounds like a poor excuse.
IF you researched many articles and video these cars fairly new and i am just saying have that money pay for your own lodging and care.

Thanks for stating the truth and pointing out the false propaganda. Agree with your post.

Well said, good to see others who have some empathy and compassion for the asylum seekers. Too many forget that they are human too. Thanks.

In any welfare system, be it for migrants, vets, the unemployed, fraud takes place. There isn't a system on the planet that is 100% legit. It's human nature to try and find ways around rules and regulations. How much do you think is spent each year trying to move around the tax system? It's just something we must accept.

As for the cars - I fail to see the problem. So what if the cars are "new". The law doesn't say illegal (at the time) migrants can pay for their own keep. This is not determined until they are processed.
