Trying new things isn't always easy.
It's usually more comfortable "to stick with what we know, playing it safe".
But, trying new things can be fun and exciting, and even beneficial to the brain--giving it something new to learn..keeps it healthy.
I, myself, am taking an on-line course thru a College...
saw the ad on TV..and thought.."why not".

I will probably be doing an online class or two this year as well. I've already done some, my favorite being a writing class at UTK (University of Tennessee Knoxville)... but that was some time ago and I don't even know if they offer distance learning any longer. I've wanted to do some Penn State classes forever, so maybe it's my time to just bite the ol' bullet and get it done. That would be their World Campus and not physical campus.

A while back i posted a video that talks about just. i've mentioned you in a comment on that post so you can watch it. Life-long learning is perhaps the best habit we can develop for brain health. Life-long learners build more connections between various bits of info--which means we have more 'paths' to retrieving info, a good thing anytime (tho it can sometimes make it difficult for others to understand your train of thought, because some of your connections might be unorthodox and contrary) but when physical aging of the brain starts to take its toll having more routes to recalling some bit of info is very helpful.
It seems the older I get the more I want to learn! Not enrolling in a class but, finding books I HAVE TO READ!
and I'm creating from morn till night! Exercising with yoga now, devotion and reverence, transcendental deep
meditation, growing spiritually at a rapid rate, I "think". Studying Vedic science and consciousness expansion.
The Bhagavad Gita. Yes, I know! It's 9000 years old but it merges with quantum physics!
I've given up waiting for something to happen to me. I'm making it happen! @Jace, I think what you are doing is GREAT! Proud of ya!
