Here's a short poem I wrote for New Year's and am sharing with you. For those who don't know, Vassilopita is
a sweet bread that is baked for the New Year's and has a coin in it and whoever gets the slice with the coin gets
good luck for the year (Greek tradition). Do you have any poems you'd like to share for the New Year?
Happy New Year!
During these festive times
When traditions move in to
Sweep away the bad
And bring in the New Year
As warm scents of Vassilopita
Baking in the oven
Reminds us of St. Basil and
His kind and generous acts
To the poor, and all through this
Missing our loved ones
Who flew into the arms of God -
Yet we are still blessed
Because we have each other
To comfort and love -
All coming from the heart.
So let's embrace the New Year
In a generous and peaceful spirit
And bring hope to the world
For a better day tomorrow!
