Newark, NJ - Memories, Photos...

It really wouldn’t have been “old Newark,” only 60 years ago or so…but I grew up in NJ, and my mother used to love to shop in Newark, and dragged me there in the 50’s. I used to hate the crowded stores, but I can remember one fancy store that had air conditioning. It may have been Klines…very rare back then!

That website was created by my step-father's friend Nat Bodian. He wrote for the NJ newspaper, the Star-Ledger. So, you know, I am entirely biased about liking the website. Both Mr. Bodian and my step-father has passed now. Mr. Bodian used to come by my Dad's work and just drop off jokes for him.
My mother and father both grew up in Newark. They had many fond memories of it. And my mother taught kindergarten in Newark for many years, until the early 70s.
