Hello to you all.

Not long ago I had a job that pretty much consumed most every waking moment. Laid off a couple of months ago, so I have enjoyed a much-needed rest. So with batteries recharged its time to find a new job. ( Old one not coming back any time soon - it was hit hard by the new value of oil )

So I am here to make some acquaintances with some of this time I have.
I will have a look at the topics and jump in on something.

Cheers !

Welcome from Massachusetts, Allan. Visiting Nova Scotia and in particular Cape Breton was one of the best vacations I've ever taken. We stayed up in Ingonish and loved exploring all that Cape Breton has to offer. You'll likely recognize some of my pictures from the area.

Welcome Allan! Are you retirement age and just want to get back to work? I retired the end of April this year and have not looked back. I have worked too many years and feel like I deserve the break! Hope you find some good topics that interest you!

Hi Maggie,
Pretty close to retirement age 58, so I feel it's a bit earlier then I would have chosen. The present economic climate and my age is not likely a great combination to be successful getting back in the game, but I am giving it a good try. If a return to work is not in the cards - I guess it will be up to me to accept and make the necessary adjustments while enjoying the silver lining. I got out to an incredible musical performance a week ago and it kind of renewed my deep love of orchestral music. Now I am on a little hunt to put together a mini audiophile stereo system so I can truly enjoy all the beauty of music and great vocals. It will be like a trip back in time as in the 70's I had my first real HI FI sound system that was much more authentic than present day mp3's and CD's. That stuff is good for rock but doesn't do much for the nuances of the gentle stuff I prefer now.
***nMaggie what have you found helps make good use of what can be long days and missing routine, and turned that time into meaningful endeavors. I think us guys have a more difficult time with the adjustment as we are overly focused on our work life and we unfortunately Tend to define ourselves by it. I have begun a small bit of volunteering, but am still at loose ends a lot.
