Hi there! My name is Aly and I'm 58, I live alone and mostly retired. I'm in Tennessee, but like many others apparently, looking for a great, laidback, inexpensive coastal area to retire(which is what I was searching for and happened to find this forum). I have been a caretaker of many other people for quite a few years and now I feel it's time to take care of myself. Looking forward to reading advice/info/opinions on retiring, where to live, life, etc. from this board. I love the outdoors, horses, dogs and being casual and want to end up stress free by the ocean!:eek:nthego:
 

Welcome alyb...you and I are around the same age...so welcome,:D nice to have you on the forum with us. I'm near London England so I can't help you with your retirement question but I'm sure someone will be along very shortly who can!!
 

Welcome Aly! I lived in Knoxville from 1990 to 2000 then moved to Scotland. But I had been trying to move to Wilmington NC to live near the ocean.

Greetings , Aly.. we moved to Tennessee to retire. 2 yrs ago and we just love it here !.. We lived in Maine on the Coast. It's very , very beautiful , but it would of been waaay too expensive for us to retire there,, And besides , we are glad we don't have to shovel any more snow and be hunkered down with freezing temps all winter long!!
But we are happy as clams living here in the western end of Tenn.. and speaking of clams, they don't have much here for good seafood but its a sacrifice worth its weight in gold for us.. And we just love the Southern hospitality here too,, Good luck in finding your coastal home Aly, there must be somewhere near the oceans and the Gulf coast where you can enjoy your retirement.. Welcome ,to the Senior forums...
 
Hi Hollydolly, Thank you so much... I would love to retire near London, but with what's going on in Europe, maybe not for awhile! Looking forward to reading the forum :)

Thank you! I lived near Knoxville for awhile, lucky you moving to Scotland, lol... I am actually trying to figure out places on coastal NC as a possibility to retire, so if you have any opinions I'd love to read them. ;)
