Nashville is hosting the 84th Annual NFL Draft. Starting yesterday, through Sunday.

My city is in an uproar. Traffic is insane. Streets have been cordoned off for blocks downtown. No accommodations available anywhere, and rumor has it that latecomers are having to stay in Chattanooga (a couple hours away) as the closest accommodations they can find.

The police estimates were more than 100,000 people were celebrating in the Streets of downtown Nashville last night. It's a madhouse.

My condolences.
Don't understand why they decided to take it out of New York and make it a traveling event.

I watched for a while last night and saw all the congestion... Sorry that it turns into such a circus.

It is absolutely insane!!! My friends are posting images on fb of the craziness....I mean jeez louise!!!! I have to drive today!!! I'm taking my grandson to the Nashville Children's Theater downtown, and then Ron and I are going to dinner tonight for my birthday with my son at The Catbird Seat...I posted about that earlier...also downtown. Expensive, exclusive, took a month for Cameron to get a reservation, and now we're worried that we won't even be able to get there!!!!

I'm scouring the internet looking at which streets are blocked off, the alternate routes etc. Lyft and Uber have been assigned drop-off locations all around the downtown area because there's no chance in hell they're going to be able to get fully into the downtown area. We are planning to take a Lyft or Uber anyway (because of the wine pairings with the many courses and we don't want to drive after that) but now I'm trying to figure out how many blocks we're going to have to walk to even get to the restaurant if we can't be driven directly there!

Much to do about nothing....as I see it.

This country has become consumed by sports, [particularly football] and I just do not get it.

Local residents in cities that host mega events usually get the short end of the stick. Business will not go on as usual. Myself and others have lost over a week of business & work for a 3 day event.

These events are designed for people with money and can take off from work from another city. The local chamber of commerce can say it did it's job but too many local smaller business tend lose out on these things. As do the residents with traffic delays & detours.

The NFL and other organizations try to hype every little piece of business for money and marketing. Doesn't lower ticket and concession prices or shorten 4 hour games filled with commercials.
