NFL Players Arrested For Not Paying $64,000 Bar Bill-Overseas In London

Not too sure it's a rip off. $2000 for a half decent bottle of wine would not be unusual in the West End. I imagine similar prices could be found in Las Vegas.

You know the old saying, If you want to know how much it costs, you can't afford it!

Absolutely . Always more to the story.

I have been ripped off on restaurant and bar bills before.

Once I remember the owner sat down with us and had a few drinks. It was on our bill.

I once had that 'owner experience' you noted....when I went to the cashier , I instructed her to subtract this drink & that drink. She looked perplexed ?? I said those are the drinks George [the owner] had......I never offered to buy him anything . She went to him, he came out....OH no that was a mistake, I'll speak with the waitress about that, bla,bla,bla.......yeah right.....I'm thinkin' better luck next time pal.

I have a hard time feeling bad for those players. I doubt they were babes in the woods. They weren't having a pint with their fish & chips. They spent hours being lavished upon as VIPs in posh exclusive clubs. Gotta pay for your play.

If the bill was suspect the house wouldn't have called the police, and if the house was suspect the police would not have responded.

That sort of bill can be run up over a lunch break in London's West End.

The police can't do a thing about a bill. Only about a disturbance.

I would love to see the itemized bill.

Not invariably true. While it could be a civil matter, obtaining goods by deception (pretending you are going to pay), obtaining credit by deception or obtaining a pecuniary advantage by deception are all criminal offences.

Considering that Brits & Others were charged the same, it wasn't a tourist rip off. And if grossly overpaying for a night out boosts your ego, well, pay it. What's that about a fool and his money???????????

I think in the US they charge those dine and dashers with somekind of theft of services. I guess drink and dash would be a similar charge.

Well of course since restaurant food and drink is taxed in the UK they could always do them for tax evasion!
