At my 1st. duty station in Argentia Newfoundland I learned that nicknames were popular,especially if they were embarrasing. My nickname became Myhandsare.The name came due to having a flat tire. I explained what happened to the crew I worked with.
This is what happened.
I was dating a Newfie girl, we were on our way from St. Johns to Carboneer to go to a party. She had on a mini skirt, sweater & really warm jacket. It was really cold [no surprise in winter] About half way there I got a flat tire. I had borrowed the car so finding the jack & spare tire took a little time.
Found the jack and set it in place, but by this tme my hands were cold. I got in to warm them since I left the car running to keep my date warm. I told her my hands were cold & began to warm them by putting my hands close to the heater vent. My date said put your hands here between my legs they will warm faster. WOW !!
Once warm back out to change the tire. I got the car jacked up but the metal quickly chilled my hands. I got back in & the same warming method happened.
Got the spare out cold hands again. Remove lug nuts back to warm my hands. Close to finishing back in again to warm my hands.
She was right warming my hands between her legs worked good.
This close to last time she said can I ask you a question. I thought she was going to ask how much longer since we were going to be late for the party.
NOPE
She asked why my ears never got cold.
