Nikola Tesla, Troubled Genius?

A Serbian-American physicist, mechanical engineer, electrical engineer, and inventor, Nikola Tesla was a rival of Thomas Edison and best known for his work with alternating electrical current. He was a visionary who dreamed of the wireless transmission of free energy. While a genius, Tesla didn't understand the realities of the business world, which led to his failure. He suffered nervous breakdowns and manifested symptoms of obsessive-compulsive disorder. He became obsessed with the number 3, and spent days in the park with pigeons, the only creatures that mattered to him. To the public, Tesla appeared to be a stereotype of the mad scientist. He died almost penniless in a rented apartment, unheralded and largely unremembered despite his contributions to 20th century technology...

Tesla's extensive paperwork files were reputed to have been confiscated by federal authorities immediately after his death. Among the claims were inventions under development for "death rays" capable of knocking planes from the sky, and "earthquake machines." Tesla also claimed contact with alien intelligences...

So what are your impressions of Nikola Tesla? What exactly did Tesla know, and will we ever be privy to that information?

I believe that Thomas Edison, had a hand in destroying
his reputation, he was right about harnessing electricity
from the air for free or nearly free, you needed to build
a rig to catch it.

I read some time ago that Nikola Tesla helped Charles
Lindberg to fly across the Atlantic Ocean by installing an
electric system and motor to drive the propeller for part
of the crossing, a device that captured the electricity and
supplied the motor to make it turn.

This may well be true although neither mentioned this as
they kept it secret, yet I tend to believe it, the plane was too
small to carry enough petrol/gas for a journey of over 30 hrs,
if they loaded enough "Gas", then it would be too heavy I fear.

Tesla was a Genius, no doubt about that, I was an electrical
engineer, but not near as clever as Mr Tesla.

Mike.

There's a movie out about him starring Ethan Hawke, but it hasn't gotten very good IMDB ratings or reviews. It's available on Amazon Prime for $4.00. I don't know about Netflix.
