Nitpicking granny here; why do people say

When I learned it was fashionable to leave periods off the final sentence of texts I was a little surprised so I asked my children, all of whom are in their 30s. One leaves them off, another doesn't and the third replied, "Mom, I was a journalism major. Punctuation is our friend."

'nuff said.

In the English language the words “do” “dew” and “due” are homophones (i.e. words spelled differently with different meanings but pronounced the same way).

So these three words are pronounced exactly the same way: “du” or “do”.
