No Mask, No Burger

Starting Aug. 1, you won't be able to enter a McDonald's in the US without a face covering. Noting that 82% of its restaurants are in places under government pandemic mandates to wear a mask, the company said, "It's important we protect the safety of all employees and customers."

Same thing is supposed to happen here.. in supermarkets , take out cafe's and shops , Malls, train stations airports etc... not one supermarket is upholding the govt recommendation if people are not wearing a mask by refusing them entry , but McDonalds are turning people away who are not PPE'd up.. good for them !!

Read that retailers like Sainsburys and Asda have told their staff not to confront anyone who is without a mask (which I understand but get in a security guard?). Perhaps they could at least put up a big notice to say that anyone without a mask will not be allowed entry. That would be a start and the security guard could be at the entrance. Police haven't got the resources or time to deal with cases where people are breaking the law. Let's plan for the next lockdown!!!!!!!!

I completely agree, it's what I've been saying for the longest time. Unfortunately it looks like we may be heading head first into a new lockdown.. This mornings' news about Spain and quarrantining is just the start..my poor daughter is in tears she has lost so much business this year already :(

Up here you HAVE to wear a mask in any public place and will get turned away if you don’t have one on. Many places will supply one for you if you don’t have one with you but no mask, no entry is being mandated. Most people seem to be following the rules with no issues. Last night we were in Walmart and I didn’t see one person without one. Even children have masks on. People are acting polite and respectful as far as I can tell. The employees look well protected as they should be.

Here in my city we are doing well with the COVID-19 outbreak. Only one active case. People seem to be receptive to doing anything recommended as we are now opening eating places.
Masks are mandatory but I'm confident there wont be any resistance.

Here's the requirement from the Health Unit.
"Every Operator of an Enclosed Public Space shall adopt a policy requiring that all members of the public, employees and other persons who enter or remain in an Enclosed Public Space wear a mask or face cover in a manner that covers their nose, mouth and chine without gapping"

There are exceptions for children and individuals with medical conditions.

Plenty of eating places in the city have set up outdoor patios with tables and chairs that social distance. Put on the mask. Pick up your order inside. Then go out and sit down with your friends and enjoy a coffee.

The same is true here as well.

my brother works in a walmart & it makes me worry for his safety between the virus & all these ppl showing up with guns because they're being told they can't shop with no masks.
...and so Security should immediately call the police on these people, and the courts should sentence them to a prison term for every one who comes to a shop with a gun to use in a threatening manner..

A couple of nights ago I saw a spot on t.v. about this, and it added there'll be extra burdens on employees who need to enforce it.

I wish they'd take the same approach to the grocery stores and the city buses- both of which are usually crowded, and few individuals wear masks.

In the news today, or it may have been yesterday, a girl was on the bus and as legally required had her mask on. She was with her sister. She pulled her mask down so that her sister who is deaf and dumb could lip read. The girl was verbally abused by a passenger on the bus. The girl tried to explain but to no avail. The passenger stood their ground. I feel that there are those who have no 'disability' and refuse to wear a mask and others who do their best and have circumstances where the wearing of a mask is problematic for them or others. It certainly highlights difficulties for certain individuals

Basically around here, if you leave home, wear a mask.. That way you don't have to remember who is enforcing what rules, and when.
it's like that in Spain, and also their police enforce the rules too.. and I believe it should be here too... but between the lily livered government and the self entitled people who refuse to wear a mask, we're all like to be in danger of infection again

I have a really hard time breathing while wearing a mask. I have an incredibly difficult time going grocery shopping. I get so overheated, breathless, sweating profusely, etc. And that is without wearing a mask. I can order many groceries online. That is a blessing. But I also have a "Food Assistance" card. I need to shop at the store to use this benefit. Due to the current crisis, my benefits are significant. I can't afford to ignore them. I'm really in a quandary over this issue.

Ronk, have you tried the disposable paper masks? They are lighter than the cloth ones, and a little easier to breathe through.

Oh gosh how terrible. And in Spain also? Yikes. This is going the wrong way.

If by food assistance you mean EBT/SNAP, you can use it to order groceries from Amazon.

I don't have EBT/SNAP but I seem to remember last week when I ordered groceries from Wal-Mart that at checkout it asked if using it.
