No riots? So where are the cop hating enraged people?

I still say all lives matter. My brother died of a heart attack in 2020, and his life meant more to me than any other lives, black, white, or whatever. People don't seem to buy as many newspapers, or watch the news as much, when one of white folks are killed by the police. I guess it's viewed as if the person who is shot is white, he must have been guilty. But if the person is not white, but the cop is, then the cop is guilty.

About 1000 people are shot by police every year, most of them white. Most of them are shot while committing some sort of crime. We should teach our kids not to commit crimes, not even small ones, if the police approach you do not resist arrest, do exactly what the police tell you to do, take up your side of things later, in court.

If you have a mentally ill person in your care be very careful if you need to contact police for help. The days of the "men in white coats," are past. If your loved one is having an episode and you feel that they are in danger of hurting themselves or you, you may need to call the police to have them involuntarily committed to a hospital until they are under control. When you call the police tell them there is mental illness, tell them your family member is unarmed. Stay close until he/she is safely secured.

@Della …you do not say you speak from experience…but I totally recognize the fear. My brother was bipolar…and got very very lucky several times. I think the “black lives matter” campaign is important…but lots of people use the name of the movement to deflect any acknowledgement of any problem with how high tension situations are handled with law enforcement
. “Defund the police” was a very unfortunate choice of words when what was meant was to spread the funding to cover those circumstances where the underlying problem was not criminal intent. Too bad…our jail are filled with persons whose problems stem from mental health issues.
