My favourite bit of architecture in Manchester. No1 Angel Square is the head office of The Co-Operative Group.

The big words...

'It is one of the most sustainable large buildings in Europe and is built to a BREEAM 'Outstanding' rating. It is powered by a biodiesel cogeneration plant using rapeseed oil to provide electricity and heat. The structure makes use of natural resources, maximising passive solar gain for heat and using natural ventilation through its double-skin facade, adiabatic cooling, rainwater harvesting, greywater recycling and waste heat recycling.'

By the address I was (hopefully) expecting a medieval pub! Your photo reminds me of a building I call Sail, in Brooklyn NY.

Big words indeed, is there an English version? My first impression is that it lacks architectural impact, it just looks 'modern.'
Have you ever seen Euston Station in London?

This is what the Victorians built and left as their legacy. It's what I mean about impact.

Then, in the 1960's after Beeching had decimated the railways, it was decided that Euston
should look "modern." So the magnificent colonnades were demolished and now we have
this structure.

Number one Angel Square probably has to be of that appearance in order for it to be 'green.' All the same, I'm glad it's not in my neck of the woods.
