Noises when getting into bed???

Why is it that when I get in bed to go to sleep; there's all these noises in the house? I've been in the house all day, and no noises. But as soon as I hop in bed, there's creacking, poping- all kinds of noises. . It sounds like every crook in the state is trying to break in. My stomach makes a lot of noises. But I don't mess with it, if it gets hungry, it'll keep me awake.

Funny, I was just thinking that last night seconds after I got into bed...

This is an old house and things creak, none less than the wooden carpeted stairs.. but why seconds after I get into bed?.. why not seconds or minutes after I've used the stairs, or walked across the room with the creaking floorboards

Your mind is relaxed, noises are more clear since the world is silent now, noise travels free, no interference like other times.

See that doesn't compute in my home, because here I am in my little office room which is en suite to my bedroom..it's quiet as a mouse here.. and there are NO creaks coming from anywhere...

I live in an apartment building but might as well live all by myself when it comes to noises, it's so quiet ... day or night! Probably because mostly seniors live here, even though it's not a seniors' home! I think the creaking noises that start at bedtime are caused by the cooling off of the woodwork during the evening once the sun sets. It's happened to my wife and myself when we lived in older, wooden buildings.

On the wall in front of me is a framed poster. The glazing is plexiglass. After the sun sets and the house begins to cool off this thing starts popping and crackling as it responds to the changes. The whole house does, but this thing is especially loud, on occasion it sounds like a fire cracker. We're used to it now, but the first day it was pretty unsettling.

It's worse in cold weather here. I finally figured out that the gas fireplace makes all kinds of creaky cooling off noises for about an hour after turning it off. I can hear it in the bedroom but it wasn't obvious what it was. I thought someone was trying to open my sliding glass door.

Your not hearing as well because your sitting vertically, we hear the best in a horizontal position. Sitting vertically your blood drains from your head, correct? When you lay horizontal the blood pools in your head which allows sound waves to amplify on the way to the hearing receptors in your brain, thus increasing your hearing range.

Lay on the floor and listen, you'll see.

Besides.....you just read it on the internet so it must be true.

You sure those sounds aren't coming from you? I've been woken up by strange noises, but every time I've said "What the hell was that? Did you hear it?" my wife said, "Yes, you were snoring."

...again not the case in my situation because in bed I wear earplugs ..so in fact I hear even less than when I'm sitting up
