3.beyond mobile phone contact.

4.Fear of not having a working cell phone .

Thank God Im nowhere near being this crazy about my cell phone.
 

Not me. I don't turn it on unless I'm out and there might be an emergency. When I'm out I don't want to be called.
 

Won't be me, lol. Today was the first time after having my old pre-paid Tracfone flip-phone for so many years, ran out of air time. The service card I put on there last expired yesterday. Hubby tried to call me when I was at Walmart today, and told me my phone must have been off. Well, it was on, the service just expired. According to the Tracfone site, I'll have to be issued a new number, but if I get another service card in 60 days, I can keep my accumulated minutes...which is a lot.

We rarely use the phone, we both share just the one, and when we talk we say what we have to say in a couple of minutes and that's it. My phone has no internet capability, no camera, etc...just a simple phone. I'm not a gabber either, and will never be tied to my cell at all. I use it so seldom, I'm not even comfortable using it yet.
 
I used to ignore my old one, but, this newer one the ring tone is louder, even when I bury it down in the bottom of my purse. I keep it on though these days only because of the doc appt reminders are quite helpful. :D I used to get fussed at quite often for not answering my phone. This dang phone not only is louder, but rings for a longer period of time as well.

I have one friend that if we have a planned outing that will send text to me 30 seconds for thirty minutes straight, stop for a bit, start up again till I turn the phone off or call and say stop it. Have the nerve to ask if I'm mad. :hit:
 
Mine is ALWAYS switched off and no one has the number. I only carry it in my handbag when driving in case of emergency.
 
I do use my phone; but am not permenantly attached to it; I quite like keeping in touch with my children and grandchildren!
i do use my I-pad...but I do not take it out with me....
So I am an in-betweenie..
 
:wave: Moi. Guilty. I have an android that is with me all the time (although I put it in my locker when I'm in the gym). I don't actually make calls with it very often, it's for internet (Facebook and other forums, email, chatting), texting, maps, measure my pulse, latest news, Skyping. I also use it for a timer when cooking, for an alarm clock, and for finding out quickly what time it is in countries I like to Skype (in-laws in Oz, etc). I love to take photos with the phone and post them in real time. I take the bus a lot instead of driving because at age 60+ the bus is free, and like to use my phone for internet then if not reading my kindle. We travel a lot and for trips of over a couple of weeks I always get a sim card and data package. My husband tends to wander off when shopping or when traveling and not being psychic I can't always figure out where he is, so I can text or phone him.
 
I use mine mainly to text family! That way they can answer when they have time. It keeps my husband entertained on Facebook when I am driving, and is good to have if I need directions since my car does not give me that capability.
 
Yeah,I`m pretty attached to mine. Rarely talk on it but text a lot. We did disconnect our landline 4 years ago when all we got on our housephone was telemarketers-everyone else called our cells. Saved us over $100.00 a month! We did have to put a landline back in when we became foster care certified (don`t really understand why). My cell provider now offers a "home phone" for $20.00 a month so we got that. I don`t give anyone the number though-just the foster agency-but they always call me on my cell lol.
 
Mine is only for emergencies, like to have it when I'm going somewhere and will be on the highway.

We were at a funeral service once and just before the service started a phone in a woman's purse
started ringing. She dug around and finally got it shut off but it would have been more considerate
if she had turned it off before coming in to the church.
 
My phone is ALWAYS on vibrate or it will flash if I put it down alone for any incoming call,appointments,to do things,incoming text etc,etc

Unfortunately some people truly are dependent on their phones for financial reasons. Friends of mine have told me that it is next to impossible to find employment without a cell phone, which is ridiculous if you ask me. But now everyone seems to expect everyone else to answer them RIGHT AWAY; from potential employers to family members.

I've been accused of being irresponsible and antisocial because I would not pick up my cell phone during certain activities, like taking walks. It's insane to me that anyone would EXPECT me to answer my phone when I am not home. But it seems like these days, if someone wants to get in contact with you, they are NOT willing to wait. It's like they view you and your electronics as one and the same. I have been cursed out for not answering text messages during the THREE minutes I spent IN THE BATHROOM!

And pay phones are starting to disappear now.

Younger generations are helpless. People are being forced/pressured into becoming extensions of their electronics.
 
No absolutely not addicted to my phone. I'd be quite happy to not have it on except for emergencies...but I do have it on all the time because I have to be contactable by my staff at all times.. (even on my day off by my Boss)... I keep it well hidden in my bag when I'm out socialising and check it discreetly on a visit to the loo..I do hate it when people sit texting or using FB when we're socialising.

Other than the above I use my phone to text my family and friends mainly..occasionally use it to search the internet, or if I'm sitting waiting in a queue for an appointment I'll play trivial pursuit, other than that my iphone 5c is really well underused.
 
I have had a Mobile for 8 months. I put £10 on it. And still have £9.50.
The last one I gave away in Spain to the cleaner.
 
I recall when cell phones weighed 7 lbs and looked like you were in the military calling in bomb coverage with your walkee/talkee. I didn't get mine until in the late 90's and was issued by my company for tech support. My career entailed being on call 24/7, after 35 years started to hate the damn things, vowing to never have one after retirement, wife had another take on that decision. She demanded I carry one when away from home.

I can remember as a kid that we had the option of ignoring our mothers yelling to come home. Her yells didn't have the tracking technology that cells do now. I turn mine off, ignore it and only use it for a lighted clock at night. I have the power and drive my kids nuts trying to get ahold of me.
 
I'm not tied to my phone either except as a phone to talk to our daughters. I don't access the internet, I don't play games on it......but my husband can't go for a walk without it and not feel 'lonely'. I don't get it.
 
My son is currently looking for work..you can guarantee if he goes to the loo...or has a shower...his phone will ring..even though he keeps it tightly clutched to him at all other times!!
 
Mine sets on the counter most of the time and takes messages from Papa Johns and Pizza Hut. Wife got me a fancy Trac Phone and I have no idea what to do with all the stuff, so it sets on the counter. I take it with me for emergencies only.:confused:

I agree Pappy...I don't want to launch a moon rocket...or a Polaris submarine..I want my phone to ring...not play me a version of ''Smack me bitch up!''

And then just a text facility..

Try putting the phone on "vibrate" when a call comes in,only problem with this is you have to carry it all the time.
 
I have to remember to take my old flip top off the charger. Half the time I remember it after I'm already where I was going. When the darned ole thing would ring, I always thought it was someone else's phone, until my husband put a really sweet message on the phone as it's ring tone. That I hear.
My Kindle is always in my purse, and my IPad is always at home. :wave:
