North Dakota man says condo association threatens $200 daily fines over American flag 'noise'

Flag etiquette demands a light be shown on our flag flying in darkness. It has to be illuminated or taken down.

If the man allows it to become weather beaten, overly faded or ragged, he must remove it. I wonder what shape the flag is in now?

Some people's wind chimes bug the heck out of me, but I can somewhat get used to them.

I haven't read the article, because I use an ad blocker. But nothing surprises me about these condo boards, and Home Owners Ass. A few old biddies get into the ruling faction, and go crazy over making rules. I was thinking of getting home in one of those HOs.. I was given an inch thick printout of the "Basic Rules". No way!!! If you sign your name to a twenty year cellphone contract, and sign into a Condo/HOs agreement, you better be prepared to abide by their rules-NOT YOURS.

For the life of me I will never understand why anyone would subject themselves to such needless suffering and torture, need alone pettiness of it all.
That’s your perception. I chose to live in a strata with reasonable rules because I don’t want to live beside slobs again.

Most of the rules are very reasonable. If you don’t like them, you have the choice to not buy there.

Although I don’t know if you live in town, go for a walk through various neighborhoods and see if you could live beside some of these people or places. I’ve lived in the country and that’s not a lifestyle I’d want again. Each to our own.

If people want to live in close urban settings, they need to agree on rules if they want to maintain a certain lifestyle.

Some strata association have very few rules and it shows.

We're fortunate, in that we live in a highly sought-after area, a cross between the best of both worlds, far enough away from the hub, yet not out in the toolies.

The slob thing I remember in our old neighbourhood, run-down houses, yards, old junky broken-down automobiles sitting around, garbage, fences falling over, not a pretty sight, so while I can understand that point, I refuse to allow anyone to outline what I can and cannot do.

I do believe HOA residents perception of life in general once they commit themselves to a compound, is that life, the world, people... everything stops and comes to a screeching halt just for them, and that just isn't reality.

I disagree. The concept is that people are just asked to respect everybody else.
