Notes from Pappy's diary

Just a thought Pappy ; many have grown to love you both and your family over time and your diary ; BUT If Thelma had have also written a diary ? what would you imagine she would have said as the family grew and the years went by until now?
Good idea but I really don’t know how or what she would say. Probably similar to mine except she might mention 2 bouts of cancer and a tumor removed from her spine. She’s a tough lady coming from a farm family of 15 siblings, she would have to be. I know it would include her children who she has loved all these years.

My wife has shingles again. On her leg and very painful. I told her that’s what they were and a trip to Urgent Care verified it. Got a prescription to help make them not spread any further. I apply a numbing salve twice a day and Tylenol 6-8 hours. They are starting to scab over and that’s a sign they are drying up.

On the home front, we are getting colder weather and dark skys. Been using my fireplace heater to take the chill out of the living room. The window heaters do not run too much. Only when I turn up the heat in morning. We are total electric and my last bill was $119. I expect that will increase as the gets below freezing.

Wish I could find someone local that comes to the house to cut hair. It’s getting hard to go to barber shops anymore. Professional cutters want $100 or more. I use to cut my own but my coordination isn’t to good anymore. Maybe I’ll try my Nextdoor app and ask around.

That’s all the exciting news 🥱 from Pappy’s place.

sorry to hear mrs Pappy is sufering with shingles, that's horrible...

As i suggested to you in the pst to cut your own hair due to the cost of Barbers, and now realise your co-ordination isn't up to it.I understnd...

I definitely would ask on Next door.. there's always hairdressers around who can come to your home, but be careful what you say on there, you don't want everyone and their possible home invader friends to know you're vulnerable.

Just ask as tho; you're asking for a friend, and when you get a reply.. then PM them for more details ..

Pappy,

I used to cut my father’s hair with good results.

Talk to your daughter or one of the grandkids about cutting your hair and buy a nice hat! 😉

Wahl offers several basic clippers and kits, with a bit of practice most people can do a passable job.

Aunt Bea. I have that very outfit I ordered some time back. Tried using it but ended up looking like a scarecrow. I’ll find someone if I try hard enough. Nextdoor looks good to try.

Good O ! keep living the life - love your photo display - your place always looks so clean tidy and untouched by human hand !! - next step perhaps take some home made movie shots??

Today is a good day to show some pictures of my Army experience. It was my job and my crew to keep these M-48 Patton tanks running. They were used by the summer Army reserves and beat them up pretty bad. We had about 4 months to fix them up and get ready for our next batch of reserves.
I’m the guy in the tank photo and I’ve included a photo of the engines we worked on. IMG_3343.jpegIMG_3359.jpeg

Pappy, Thank you for your service!

Yesterday, Friday, Thelma and I had nothing planned and was watching our soap opera we’ve watched for years. A knock on the door and my daughter and granddaughter stood there with boxes in hand. It seems they wanted to surprise us with a Christmas tree and decorations. Let me add right here that I have the best family possible.

Shari, my granddaughter, told us earlier that she was going to look at 4 foot trees for us and see what she could find. Well, we now have a 7 foot decorated beautiful tree. We never had a tree up this early before but we love it. It was a great moral booster as we both have head colds. Love these kids so much.IMG_1214.jpeg

I’ve had a rough couple of weeks here. First, bad eye strain so didn’t post very much. I’m doing ok now. Thelma went through a week of passing out and getting sick. The 2nd time she fainted, I called 911 and took her to the hospital. Lots of test and five hours later, 3 am, they said she could go home. All her test came out good. She did have an elevated heartbeat so we will see a heart doctor soon.

So, I’ve been busy being her caretaker as I don’t want her to fall again. I have giving up a lot of iPad time and will post as often as I can. I’ve really missed you guys and our daily postings.

Have a great day folks and enjoy your Thanksgiving day….Pappy
