Notes from Pappy's diary

My kids came over yesterday and we lowered our bed by this much:View attachment 484284
Pappy,

If it is too low for you or Thelma consider one of these bed assist rails.

Sometimes it helps to have something to grab onto to help sit up and or stand up.

They just slide under the mattress and have two legs that rest on the floor, there are several styles and price points.

It’s a possibility down the road aunt Bea, but it looks closer to the floor than it is. It’s 23 inches from the floor and when sitting on the bed our feet just touch the floor. I have something similar on our bathtub to aid us in there.

I am thinking about taking the last one off to make it lower like you did. The lowest would work best for me. I didn't do it when I took the bed apart because I could not get all of them off. Had to find a muscle man to help me. I think I might attempt it again on the week-end. I like low your bed it. Then adding a 3" topper would be still be lower.

Couple of years ago, while still in Florida, our cleaning lady gave us this Christmas cactus as a gift. We brought it up with us and set on the front window sill. It bloomed like crazy this year. It not the warmest spot because it’s by the cold window.

Again this morning it was minus 1 degree. Weatherman says real cold the rest of the week. Living on the first floor is great except the floors get colder than those places upstairs. I think this is one reason our electric bill is so high. But last summer we were nice and cool compared to other units. Trade off I guess.

Glad to hear that.

I’m on prednisone and it’s working. Infection much better and breathing easier. Thanks for asking.
Just don't stay on prednisone. Sort term good. Long term NO.

Well, we made it through the subzero weather and my lung infection has cleared up. I have gone to a new pulmonologist and he seems very thorough and taking my interest at heart. Today, I had a lung scan and next Wednesday I take a breathing test and see the doctor after that. I just want some honest answers as to why I keep having these episodes of shortness of breath. Enough of that.

It got up to 37 degrees today and was nice and cozy here in the apartment today. My daughter took us to our appointment today and we stopped for coffee and pastry. On the way home, stopped at Stewart’s and bought some of their cherry vanilla ice cream. It’s so darn good and creamy.

I’m thinking of getting a 3 inch foam pad for our bed. Very similar to what Kat has on her new bed. Our mattress is rather hard so a change is needed.
Stay safe and warm. Pappy
